A baby shower has a history of being a time when friends and family would bring gifts to help the new parents but there was no party involved.

Over time this tradition has evolved into much more account for baby showers. Today, unlike in its early beginnings, showers no longer are exclusively female. Today it is quite acceptable to request close male friends as well as children of the guests.

Today families are made up of all distinct unique combinations and there is really no wrong or right way to make your invitation list. The main thing to keep in mind is that everyone is there to celebrate life and love of the new expanding to the family.

So, now that you know who to invite, then let's talk about the menu. First off you want to place top priority on the expectant mom. When women are pregnant they often have to avoid some foods either to eat or smell. Just the smell of some foods will trigger nausea for the expectant mother.

You also need to know the new mom's beloved foods and if these are not on the avoid list then you would want to be sure and include some of these on your menu.

Next you need to look at your budget. Then you can begin to blend your menu into your theme. You may only want to have finger foods, fancy sandwiches and delectable desserts if your theme is say a tea theme. On the other hand if your theme is more of a orchad theme then you may want to pick foods like fruits and veggie dishes. So the episode is just keep your theme in mind when making your menu.

Foods that are in season will cost less and can help out with your budget. The time of day that you pick for the shower may also influence your menu. An afternoon shower might only require finger foods where an evening shower may require more of a full dinner menu.

Try to bring fun to your shower. Adults tend to sit colse to and have small group conversations and never really have fun playing games at a party like kids do.

There are a lot of games specifically for baby showers, so hunt the net and find a few that you think would work well with the population that you know are going to attend.

To add more fun to the party, consider giving a small gift to the winner of each game. Prior to the party establish the items you will need for the game and put each prize in a Ziploc bag and mark on the bag which game it is for.

Then on the day of the party you can just get your game bags out and let everyone have a lot of fun.

Don't forget to have some decorations. They will really make the event have more of a party atmosphere. Maybe some stars on the ceiling, some flickering candles or balloons with tons of colorful ribbons and streamers. You might want to use some elegant flower arrangements and give them as prizes for your game winners. This way they can take them home with them when they go, but everyone can still enjoy them as decorations while the party is going on.

To get everyone in a fun mood before they even arrive, place some cute baby shower theme signs on stakes with arrows on the streets important to the party.

And don't forget to take lots of baby shower pictures. Everyone will love to remember the occasion in pictures years down the road.

Hope these tips have given you some ideas on how to spice up your next baby shower. Just remember the idea is for everyone to relax, have fun and celebrate the attractiveness of a new life.
